BENEFIT OF BECOMING A MEMBER
Why does GHFC have “members”?
The Bible uses the body of Christ to describe the church, i.e in other word the “Church”is not a building,” The Church” is a people; a people of faith. ‘‘For just as the human body is one and has many parts that makes it up, so is the church and the members in it, though many, but are one body, so it is with Christ’‘ (1 Cor. 12:12). It’s a beautiful illustration of how we’re each created to serve different functions, we need everyone to function in order to be a healthy body, and all of us as separate parts, find purpose and unity under Jesus Christ, ‘‘the head of the body, the church’‘ (Col. 1:18). Members are the church (Eph. 2:19-22). Members know that they have been given the grace and responsibility to see God’s kingdom and agenda established in our generation.
What’s the difference between a member and somebody who just visits GHFC every week?
We understand the difference between our “members” and our “visitor.” As our visitor, it means you are a guest who is also a member of body of Christ but separated from the benefit and care that comes with being an active part of GraceHouse family church. Being a GHFC Member, on the other hand, you serve in the church by: committing your time, talents, and resources; and submitting to the authority God has established to lead our congregation. The difference between a member and a non-church member is that members knows they are “on a mission in the vision.”
Being “on a mission”
To be on a mission means that you’re a believer, and your identity is founded in Jesus Christ, and that you accept the GHFC mission statement which develop individuals to the fullness of their potential, regardless of their past, so that you achieve a live full of meaning and simply manifest the best as you are taught to live a life that brings glory to God, and becoming a disciple who brings God glory in heart, home, church, and the world (Matt. 28:18-20). These expressions are only possible with an identity established in Jesus Christ.
Why becoming a member?
Jesus Christ established the local church as an expression of God’s spiritual family (Eph1:5). Spiritual life in Christ (as it is described in the New Testament) is a life that is meant to be lived within the context of a local church.
In GraceHouse family church we care for each other, pray for each other, and serve one another. As we minister out of the gifts God has given us we grow and mature in the faith. We are designed to grow together as a family, not in isolation (Eph. 4: 11-16).
By becoming a member of GHFC, You help the GraceHouse family church spiritual leaders lead (Hebrews 13:7, 17). Through formal membership in GHFC, our leaders come to know who is committed to the “Vision” and for whom they must give an account to God (1 Peter 5:2). As a member of GHFC you also have given permission to the church leadership to exercise spiritual mentor-ship over you, which is our core values as a leader in service (Acts 20:28).
By joining “The GraceHouse Family“, you are committing to the church’s direction and submitting to the church’s authority. In other words, we enter into a real-life mutually beneficial spiritual relationship, where an atmosphere is created for you to fulfill your dream. Being a Gracehouse member, automatically involves you in active discipleship (Hebrews 10:24-25), which includes supporting our corporate vision and seeking to grow personally.
Being a GraceHouse member is a progressive step personally in your walk with God. As you commit to a family of faith (through prayer, regular church attendance, serving, giving, etc.) God works to accomplish His will (in and through you).
If you’re not a Christian, don’t worry about membership, just come as you are until you are convinced to become one and in the process get reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.
What are the benefits of being a member?
Scripture calls us a body, a family, a household–being a Christian is not a solo effort. Jesus works through the church (Eph. 2:10), the church is Jesus’ body (1 Cor. 12:27), and apart from Jesus, you can do nothing (John 15).
members are the church and not the biulding. ‘‘In love [God] predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ…So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God’‘ (Eph. 1:4-5 2:19).
The benefit is that we get to worship Jesus Christ together, serve in His kingdom, and be children of God! We enjoy the guidance that his Word provides, and, when sin comes between us, we enjoy the reconciliation Jesus’ blood provides.
